- I spoke with Alexander Petrovic of clickBOOM the other night and I have some
- details for you:
-
- * It will run on any processor 020 or higher, but yes, it does require an
- FPU.
-
- * On an 060 it runs okay, but it really likes a PPC and/or a gfx card (cB
- licensed both the intel and PPC versions).
-
- * It will work with any of the third party add-ons, except, as you say, the
- binaries like the WAD editors etc. cB aren't intending to provide things
- like
- this, but they did say to me that they would try to help anyone interested
- in
- porgramming such a thing - by contacting the authors of such programns on
- other platforms and asking them for their source code for example.
-
- * It fully supports TCP/IP gaming to the extent that you can go on one of
- the
- current servers which are hosting Macs and PCs.
-
- * AQuake has a full ARexx port (not that sure why atm) so that you can have
- the functionality of "QuakeSpy" without needing to have it programmed for
- you.
-
- * This is the game that will make or break the Amiga boys. If this doesn't
- succeed then a) it's very unlikely that cB will still be around, b) even if
- they are no other PC games manufacturer is going to be interested in
- licensing
- their stuff to an Amiga company and no Amiga company is going to want to
- fork
- out the big bucks to port games which are just going to get ripped off.
-
- *Amiga Inc are going to host a Quake Server, but it doesn't look feasible
- that
- Amiga Format can now. (I'm deputy editor of AF for those who don't know).
-
- If you want specs of gfx modes and the like have a look at the cB website
- (you
- can get there from www.pxlcomputers.com)
